Financing clarity, on demand

Relaunch App & Web for Consors Finanz

Role

As a Strategic UX/UI Designer, I was responsible for both the strategic alignment and the conceptual and visual execution of this project. Working closely at the intersection of business objectives and user needs, I drove the design process forward in a data-driven, user-centric way.

Goal

The primary objective was to redesign the homepage and its associated subpages for the "Financing" section within the Consors Finanz app. The core focus was to optimize the app’s most critical revenue driver (CashClick) to significantly boost the Conversion Rate (CR) while modernizing the overall digital product experience.

Users & Focus

The target audience consisted of existing customers with an active financing plan, divided into two distinct segments: Experienced Users and new Users. Because this was a highly sensitive, revenue-critical area of the app, our main focus was balancing ambitious business targets with an intuitive, frictionless user experience.

Process

  • Prototyping & User Testing: To mitigate any financial risk, we developed two distinct concept prototypes and rigorously tested them against each other in intensive user testing sessions.

  • Phased Rollout: The implementation was rolled out step-by-step. The launch was accompanied by targeted in-app announcements to gently introduce existing users to the new design without startling them.

  • Data-driven Iteration: By integrating precise tracking, we continuously monitored user behavior post-launch, allowing us to make data-driven optimizations and further design iterations.

Challenges

  • Minimizing Revenue Risk: Optimizing an established "cash cow" requires highly meticulous design. Even minor UX friction can have immediate, negative impacts on revenue.

  • Accessibility (BFSG Compliance): One of the major technical and creative challenges was ensuring that the entire app was made fully compliant with the BFSG (German Accessibility Strengthening Act) during the redesign process.

The Outcome

The redesign was a massive success from both a user experience and a business perspective:

  • Massive CR Jump: The Conversion Rate for CashClick on iOS surged from 17% to 30%.

  • Revenue Boost: We achieved a 30–40% increase in both revenue and CR for CashClick Year-over-Year (YoY).

  • Positive Feedback: Users explicitly praised the modern new look and the significantly improved clarity and structure.

  • Future-Proof Blueprint: The app will be fully BFSG-compliant in the next release. This success serves as the standard blueprint for upgrading the rest of the app step-by-step (including sections like the mailbox and transaction history).
